I have no idea what marks to look for to see if it's a "REMLIN" which seems to be a hybrid build. There is no "REM" proof mark, and the serial numbers don't match their pattern. I can't see any markings indicating it is a Remington build. There is one proof mark on the left side of the barrel and it looks like "JMM", but the stamp is not even from one side to the other, so it's not absolutely clear reading it. I've been contacted by an interested party, but he wants to be certain that it's a "Real Marlin" and not a Remington or Remlin built rifle. I have a Marlin Model 1895 in 45-70 that was bought a while back. I'm sure the answer is right in front of me, but I can't figure out all the answers. 12- 09/2012 Prefix Year Pr(JM) 1973 few 1st Letter 1935 on 93s Pre Marlin Ballards 1861-1873 by Caliber No. I can't believe how stupid I feel asking this question. I'm not having any luck getting an answer over on the Marlin forum. I hope somebody here can help me with some info on a Marlin rifle. ![]()
